Hybrid record sales in 1st trimester 2017

Toyota increases sales of full hybrids in Switzerland by 18% year-on-year, setting a hybrid record in the first trimester. A total of 1,988 Toyota vehicles with full hybrid technology were sold between January and April.

The Toyota RAV4, launched in 2016, secured the crown of the best-selling hybrid vehicle in Switzerland. It is followed in second place by the Yaris small car, which is the only one in the B-segment available with a hybrid drive. The new Toyota C-HR made it straight to third place, with the Auris and Prius models taking fourth and fifth place among the best-selling hybrids in Switzerland in the first trimester.

The continuous growth of the hybrid in Switzerland continues. More and more new car buyers are opting for gasoline hybrid technology (+9.6% year-on-year). The success story began 20 years ago when Toyota launched the first Prius.

In the meantime, Toyota has sold more than 10 million automobiles with this groundbreaking technology worldwide, with the last million taking just nine months to complete. Two thirds of all hybrid vehicles sold in Switzerland come from Toyota/Lexus.
